Louisiana Laws Affecting Psychology

This section of the directory includes a number of state laws that impact on the practice of psychology in Louisiana. It is hoped that this section will serve as a ready reference for the psychological practitioner who must increasingly be aware of practice within a legal context.

These laws are included as a reference and guide and should not be considered a substitute for competent legal advice. No claim is made that all the laws which impact upon psychological practice are included in this section. It must also be remembered that law, like the profession of psychology, is dynamic. The legislature continually revises and amends existing statutes, as well as enacts new legislation. Although an attempt will be made to update this section of the directory with each publication, when confronted with a legal issue, it is in the best interest of the psychologist to consult a knowledgeable colleague or attorney.
